05 Nov 2011 - Fraud Public Interest Criterion takes effect from today

On 2 April 2011, the department introduced a Public Interest Criterion (PIC) which allows certain visa applications to be refused where false or misleading information is provided to the department. These changes come into effect today.

Visa affected by this change are GSM and business visas, RSMS, ENS and 457 visa not yet decided.

Student visa lodged before 5th November 2011 and not yet decided are not affected. All student visas lodged after today are affected by PIC 4020.
